In order to shop, your documentation and registration is required, during closet hours.
The Valley Park Foster Closet serves children affected by or at risk of entering foster care. In order to shop-
- Children must be currently in foster care, adopted, or under guardianship.
- Reunified with family after foster care.
- Placed with a kinship provider
We also welcome families participating in temporary foster care programs such as Safe Families for Children and families referred by another agency showing they are at risk of foster care involvement.
We will also ask you to submit a shopping record form each time you shop to let us know what items you selected for your family. Types of documentation accepted:
- foster care placement paper
- subsidy statement
- case manager referral or court order showing your child(ren) are affected by foster care
- Alternatively, you may ask your child’s case manager, the social worker from a social service agency working with your family, a school counselor, etc to send us a referral on your behalf.
Case managers are always welcome to shop for children, and will need to complete the same process of registration.
*Please note, families may be asked to provide documentation each time they shop so please come prepared with paperwork or send a message with current paperwork the day you plan to shop.
The Valley Park Foster Closet is meant to be a blessing to your family to assist in supplementing your child with needed items.
**Items received for the child belong to the child and must go with the child if they change placement or go home to a parent.
Any misuse of foster closet items will result in no longer being able to utilize the free resources the foster closet provides.
